Welcome. This is Design by Joel.
I’ve been trying to think of a suitable topic with which to begin my new home here. It turns out, I don’t have a lot to say at the moment, but I have a lot that I want to design and develop.
Do
I’ve started to realize, as I get older, that success in this world comes from a solitary force: do. There’s no other way to forge one’s own path other than putting in the effort. That isn’t easy — in fact, it’s enormously difficult — but that’s what makes it worthwhile. It’s a thermodynamic principle: motion requires energy. But the results of that effort instantly become more valuable than energy. They become matter.
Being successful is hinged on beating the rat race. I’ve come to believe there’s little else involved. Yes, talent is important, but the fortitude to stick around means so much more. When the most talented people give in, someone else immediately gets to take their place. That’s the beauty of it all. The survival of the fittest. The objectively fit don’t always win — the most fit of the living do.
That’s part of the reason I wanted to help others through web design and development. I feel that there’s too many good ideas, too many talented people, too much good stuff out there, and so much of it is hidden behind the complexity of the web. I want to help these people get their word out, whether it’s a business or their art.
So, what?
I write about doing as a motivation to you and me both. There’s a lot that we could do, and I don’t just mean as a part of this web design business.
- For those starting, or trying to grow a business…
- For those trying to make their art seen…
- For those who want to share their thoughts with the world…
- Just don’t stop doing.
